Due to the overwhelming indifference to the suggestion of The Noodle as a venue for the next Evanston Lunch Group™, we've decided to rely on EvA's outstanding, non-elder judgement and move the lunch to the new Pita Inn in Skokie.

Now, let’s see how many we can get to join us there July 16 at 12:30 pm.

    Pita Inn
    4710 Dempster Street,
    Skokie, IL 60076

Gee, I've never been called an elder before.

    I'll be there anyway.

We have not been in many years either .. because we have sworn never to return! The waiter spilled sauce all over Catherine's leather jacket, with no apology for the restaurant, which only reimbursed the cleaning bill very begrudgingly, and at that only at the cleaner of their choice in Wilmette. The jacket was never the same again, so the meal was particularly costly and the service not only incompetent (which I can forgive) but downright rude (which I won't). The food was unremarkable, not bad but not worth returning for. Admittedly, things may have changed for the better over the years (though the menu looks very familiar!). This was in the days before the internet!
In any case, we will miss seeing you all in July and August.

Sounds like that was under the old owners. The new owners are also the ones who own Nuevo Depot in Willmette.

    Hi,
New member, recommended by a friend. Is there an Evanston dinner group that meets?

No, there isn't at the moment, but that doesn't mean we couldn't start one. Is there any place in particular that you'd like to try, and that would benefit from the ordering power of multiple food-appreciators?

Pretty amazing how busy this restaurant is.

Nice gathering and very good food.

Inexpensive, too. But the parking lot was a nightmare.

My co-workers who have eaten there tell me that when the lot is entirely full (and beyond), the restaurant is still half-empty. Kind of a bummer to have a newly-built place and start out with inadequate parking. Maybe it will settle down a bit after some time but given how popular the previous location was, that seems unlikely.

Kind of like what we experienced today, except the restaurant was probably only 1/3 empty.

Part of the parking lot problem is that there was a line of about 15 people waiting for their call-in orders which they will take out.
