It's been years since I've been in one of those. They've always been full of disappoint. "Oh, hey, I like fish 'n' chips!" then "Oh, not these."
There was one in Zion years ago... then I discovered Captain Porky's, which sadly moved away from my favorite beach.

I was surprised as well.I've been in a few times over the years. I'd say that while it was never packed to the gills it always had someone in it. Not enough for it not to flounder, I guess.

    Looks like they've re-opened.

I saw that on the Chicago Tribune site. I haven't found much that I like at the UC so I'm excited about this. Hopefully the don't hide the best ones away from us 300 level folks.

Elston. It'll transform the neighborhood I tell ya! Maybe they're trying to capture the after-show crowd from the Abbey or something.

As someone who lives a block away that's very disappointing. Was hoping for something good.

A couple of "comings" happening on Western Avenue in the Lincoln Square / North Center area:

First, at the recently vacated Los Nopales space at 4544 N. Western, a new banner has appeared promising the arrival of La Catedral cafe. Assuming this is a 2nd location of their Little Village location, unless they are moving the whole operation. Anyone familiar with this place?

Second, not sure if it's open yet or opening soon, but there's a third location of Zatunye Mediterranean Grill coming to the corner of Western and Pensacola, just south of Montrose (4322 N. Western). I haven't been to their other locations but the reviews look good and it seems like a good addition to the neighborhood (albeit in a location with far less foot traffic than the stretch of Western a few blocks north).

I see what they did there. Nice ampersanding of two very appropriate names.

Now, apparently in the face of the lawsuit, Boka has announced that the name will be Swift & Sons.

Long ago, in a land far away (January 2014 in that quarter's Openings, Closings, Comings & Goings thread), it was reported that a cider bar called Northman was opening at 4337 N Lincoln Ave, where Copper House formerly was....any ideas what's going on with it? It came up in conversation at dinner last night when several of us ordered ciders.

We used to go to this location back when it was Jury's, which served an outstanding cheeseburger. The Copper House retained some of the staff (including one of the popular servers, whose name I can't recall), but the burgers weren't as good.

We were at the Fountainhead last year and some of the staff were talking up the Northman project, so I'm also curious as to what is going on.

Somewhat incidental to a DNA Info story on when if ever Roots Pizza and Jerry's Sandwiches will open in Lincoln Square, the responses also referred to Northman. @NorthmanChi responded that they hope for a fall opening. There were some signs of construction activity when I drove past on Tuesday.
