    Illinois Mycological Association presents

    Seeing Fungi Being
    Peter McCoy,
    Radical Mycology

    Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 7:30 pm

Fungi surround us and influence seemingly every aspect of our lives. And yet, how often are they acknowledged for the resilient and creative creatures that they are? In this presentation Peter will present his perspective on seeing fungi as both the unspoken stewards of whole ecosystems as well as the silent leaders in modern movements toward a more sustainable world.

Peter McCoy is an original founder of Radical Mycology, a grassroots organization and open-source movement that teaches the skills needed to work with mushrooms and other fungi for personal, societal, and ecological resilience. A self-taught mycologist with over 14 years of accumulated study and experience, Peter is the lead cultivation expert for the Amazon Mycorenewal Project and Open Source Ecology. His work has been featured in various news and media outlets such as Grist, Vice’s Motherboard, Permaculture Voices, The Survival Podcast, and The Visionary Activist Show on KUPL. Peter has written two publications on mycology and mushroom cultivation and he is the author of the upcoming book, Radical Mycology.
