Dudley's Dog House has closed. Sign outside indicates Taqueria la Fogata is coming soon. I do not know what connection there is to similarly named restaurant on Lawrence that got some pretty bad reviews a few years ago in threads for taquerias on Lawrence and Montrose here and here where eatchicago noted in 2010:
One constant: La Fogata still sucks.

Dudley's did not get a lot of attention here with much of it less than favorable: here and here.

I heard thru the grapevine that a new Malaysian restaurant may be opening in Logan Square kind of near Wasabi - possibly next month. Anyone also hear about this?

I was beginning to wonder whether the Nighthawk café/bar across from the Kimball Brown Line station was ever going to open, but the past few weeks, I've actually seen some serious construction work going on when I walk by. If anyone sees other intel on it, please post here - I've often wondered when we would get another café on the neighborhood since the ill-fated one in the strip mall down the block closed:

Looks like their Facebook page is the best source for this information:
Only thing left is to announce the Grand Opening date! Stay tuned as we will announce the date in the next few days.

The first of five Halal Guys restaurants will open to the public in the Gold Coast this week. The first 100 customers in line at 6 p.m. Thursday can grab a bite before the grand opening, which will be Saturday.

Family owned Mexican restaurant to replace the former D.C. Sarnie's space in Deerfield:

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/deerfield/news/ct-dfr-el-tradicional-tl-0820-20150817-story.html

...scheduled for a late September opening, which I'm sure will get pushed back a bit. Hopefully the community supports this place better than Sarnie's, a solid establishment that deserved a much longer run than 2 years.

...while on Deerfield, anyone have an update on Portillo's? Last I heard they were to break ground this summer and be open by November in the former Bally's space at Deerbrook Mall, but to date it's crickets as far as I know/see.

Shoot. I would frequently stop at Lincolnwood Produce instead of subjecting myself to the craziness of Fresh Farms. That's a loss.

New Niles Grocery Store Store One Step Closer
The Northeast Niles Fresh Farms had its fire inspection last week. Assuming it passed, they can start stocking shelves.
It's got to be pretty darn close now.

No signs of opening on their website, except for a help wanted notice.

In a new spinoff, Rich Melman and Bill Nevruz are stripping Shaw's Crab House of its suit and taking it north under the name Oyster on Halsted. The restaurant is slated to open in November and takes much of its inspiration from its big brother. Spread over three levels in the space formerly occupied by Coppervine at 1962 N. Halsted St., adjacent to fellow Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises properties Stella Barra Pizzeria and Summer House Santa Monica, Oyster on Halsted is a more casual, East Coast-inspired seafood and oyster bar.

Where am I going to get 28-cent chicken now? And that homemade yogurt!! I loved this place. It was always empty. Can't say I'm surprised, just angry. And the poor guys just opened that liquor store next door too. Blimey!

Returning to Chicago from Hanover Park (the Panasonic DMC-LF1 camera got wet one Saturday afternoon in Oak Park - camera repair is in..), because Belmont is being partially excavated, I switched over to Addison St.
I opted to stop for italian beefs @ Jimmy's Homemade Italian Beef @ 7544 W. Addison St.
After parking the 1987 Sprint on Oleander Ave & walking up to the front door of the shack...
    ohmigawd
People, it is not open. It wasn't because it was a Tuesday afternoon. The interior of the place looks ramshackle. I guess it was just too far off the beaten path; not even a newspaper article could salvage it.
I found this URL on a search, but it wouldn't load for me. If it loads for you, could you identify when this was placed?

According to Google's cached page from around Aug. 19, the listing was updated close to the beginning of the month.

Hi- I happened to be in that area yesterday. I had to go to the Secretary of State's office, and I noticed that they are building something on the South end of Deerbrook Mall. I had not been to that area in years, and I noticed that the inside of the mall is vacant. I used to take somebody to the movie theater there, and the mall was never super busy back then 15 years ago. We used to go to Old Country Buffet on occasion too.
