We are looking to order a large quantity of pandesal for a party; wondering what sources folks here would recommend? We are in Bucktown, but can travel.

Have you tried calling around the grocery stores to ask? I have seen baked goods at RRR on montrose, maybe it's worth a call.

You might try Uni-Mart, they have several locations, but there's one on north Clark in Chicago. They do a lot of catering you can call and check with them.

    Hi,

I would contact foodie1, who has a Filipino Kamayan dinner advertised on the event's board.

She may do it or suggest someone else.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

    Hi,

I was in a Filipino grocery store in Norh Chicago, which was selling pandesal from:

    Lina's Filipino Marketplace
    120 Ridge Ave, 17, Bloomingdale, IL 60108
    Phone:(224) 520-8150

I don't know if they are the baker or a distributor.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

    Hi,

The now closed Mrs. A Cupcakes at the Pickwick, who once leased or worked at Wheeling Bakery, seems to be working from Old World Bakery in Lake Zurich (and maybe Milettes's Cakes in Plainfield) for the meantime. The baker is Filipino, who may be able to help you.

Culinary Historians has a guest speaker on Filipino cuisine on October 10th. I asked them for a source, too:

Chef Jing Palasigue's bakery in Skokie, Cakes n' Crumbs.

They advised nothing competes with pandesal fresh from the oven, though.
