Cantina 1910 at 5025 N. Clark (technically Uptown, but sometimes called SoFo for Andersonville south of Foster) has opened for tacos and drinks prior to the official open on Wednesday.

How was it? I still haven't found that one place for breakfast/brunch in the neighborhood.

No love for M. Henry? Other than the crowds on weekends, I think it's awesome.

I just walked by Replay, didn't try. I like Taste of Heaven all right - good pancakes, similar to m. henry's bliss cakes. Pearl's Southern Comfort did a decent brunch when I went a few weeks ago - similar cuisine to Big Jones, but no wait.

I moved from Elgin to Bowmanville in July and so far I haven't found anywhere that I like as much as Benedict's in West Dundee. They had a very extensive menu and I really enjoyed everything I had there. I've been to Over Easy (I know, not Andersonville, but the closest place for me). Good, but there's something about their potatoes I don't like, could be the oil they use.

I went to Marmalade (I know, not Andersonville) once - great potatoes, but they were served with mushrooms and spinach that hadn't been drained well, so they lost their crispness. The atmosphere is a bit more diner than I want for my favorite breakfast place.

I like M. Henry but their menu is a lot more limited than Benedict's. I generally prefer egg dishes to sweet ones for breakfast, though I did enjoy the peach blueberry bliss cakes I had a couple of weeks ago, even though the pancakes were slightly burnt and left an aftertaste. I prefer to go out on Saturdays and I think M. Henry doesn't serve brunch on Sat, so I miss out on some of the options I might like.

I like the Bongo Room, but they seem to do better with the more decadent options. Last time I went I had an omelette that was pretty dry. Plus, I prefer potatoes that have some crsipness to them with my eggs and they do a nice boiled potato, but it's not the same. I have other things there that I've enjoyed, so I'll be back. Plus the bartender there on Saturday mornings provides awesome low key service. Refills my hot water before I even ask.

The other thing is thing is I like to eat early and some of the Lincoln Square places I might like open at 10 or 11. Nookies is probably the closest to a Benedict's type place I've been to, but it's farther than the others and I like to walk to burn off some of my breakfast. Nookies is just a little too far for me to walk at my present level of fitness.

Have you been to Tweet on Sheridan and Carmen (Uptown, but not far from Andersonville)? Always a consistent great breakfast/brunch.

I've been to Big Jones for brunch a few times and had positive experiences each time. Had their omelets twice and they have been among the best cooked omelets I've had.

I checked out Tweet on Sunday. I thought what I had was good, not great. I had one of the Benedicts, but the hollandaise was verging on light orange rather than yellow. I wondered if they added a little paprika or something to color that. Either that or the eggs they use have orangey yolks. It wasn't very lemony. I like a little bit of acid to cut the butter and yolks. They DO serve my favorite tea, Mighty Leaf Orange Jasmine. They give you a cute little tea cup and an enormous teapot. I sometimes try to avoid gluten, so I liked that they had those options. They give a nice greeting and I thought the service was very good. It's also nice to be able to sit outside while the weather is still cooperating.

I tried both Cantina 1910 and Sauce and Bread this past weekend and loved both.
