Some Google searches suggest a Venezuelan restaurant named Bienmesabe, but empty Facebook/Yelp pages leave me wondering what this will be.

Facebook page is now up, website is not: https://www.facebook.com/Bienmesabe-535 ... 7/timeline

Most importantly, it is now open.

Not sure about one there, but there is one due to open soon in Naperville. On Naperville Wheaton Road, in the rebuilt site of a former Chinese restaurant whose name escapes me. The MingHin signage is up, and they are now hiring.

Also a Fogo de Chao due to open soon in Naperville, just west of the restaurant strip on Freedom Drive just south of 88. A little west of Granite City and Uncle Julio's. They are also currently hiring to open in the near future.

Mine as well, started when it was CHIC and graduated after it became LCB. Hopefully all the staff will find new employment quickly. I wonder if they'll auction off the equipment once the school closes for good?

...while on Deerfield, anyone have an update on Portillo's? Last I heard they were to break ground this summer and be open by November in the former Bally's space at Deerbrook Mall, but to date it's crickets as far as I know/see.

We went in last week. We like Mi Mexico on Milwaukee Ave, but wanted to give this new place a shot. It was ok, nothing special though the menu is a little less traditional than say a Las Palmas. Tamal was good, better than MM, but otherwise we didn't love it. Didn't hate it, we'd go if others wanted to, but wouldn't suggest it necessarily.

The room was nice, quiet with a not-full room but expect it would be loud with all tables in use.

Ginger and Garlic? Would MingHin be a nice addition to the area? Ginger and Garlic being so close to Mapo made it such that any time I was in that area for lunch, I would just go to Mapo.

Yeah, the Ginger and Garlic space. MingHin is a good addition - our visits to their Chinatown location have always been for dim sum, and I'm not aware of anywhere doing that well out this way. They aren't perfect, but respectable enough that they should quickly be one of the better Chinese options in this neck of the burbs.

The restaurant inside the former Knockbox Cafe space from ex-Rootstock chef Mike Simmons has an official new name: Cafe Marie-Jeanne. Simmons, who launched a Kickstarter campaign in July to get the project running, said he hopes to open the first week of January at 1001 N. California Ave.

Chishack has opened across the street from Hinsdale South High School in a long-abandoned free standing fast food place in a strip mall. Their About Us page has a lot of marketing platitudes, but they're a hot dog and Italian Beef joint, that's not using Vienna for the hot dogs.

    Address
    301 75th Street,
    Willowbrook, IL 60527
    Hours
    Monday - Saturday
    10:30 am - 11:00 pm
    Sunday
    10:30 am - 10:00 pm

I'll give them a month to get acclimated, and then see if they deserve any of the money I throw at the 83/Plainfield Portillo's when I'm being lazy.

Lone Star BBQ Bar looks as though they may be nearly ready for opening soon. They have had partial signage up for months and more recently indicated that they are hiring. Their Facebook page is quite uninformative. EveryBlock shows that they passed a key inspection on December 15. Liquor license application was filed November 25.

They are in the building which most recently housed Crazy Calabrese and which housed Caponies for many years before their move to 7419 West Irving Park Road.

The Bascule Wine Bar on Taylor St. in the old Urban Union space has closed. Last night was their final service.
