Had to do the one-two Bien Trucha - A Toda Madre punch yesterday. Bien Trucha was off the hook, their sister restaurant A Toda Madre was interesting. A Toda Madre is supposed to be more homestyle cooking from moms kitchen from what I was told.

Slick decor, a few seats at a small oyster bar(they had kumamotos & some other varieties avail.) Friendly service, food was ok.

Did the chilaquiles, pork shoulder, tortilla chips, queso, crema, etc,:

craving pork belly, we did the pork belly "burrito", light on the belly, heavy on the rice, seemed to be missing the cucumber, and to my taste some tang(pork belly was well prepared):

churros were the highlight, passionfruit curd dipping sauce was but it was nice(didnt score a good photo.

Interesting spot I would like to try on an empty stomach not as a 2nd stop.

I made mention of A Toda Madre and their shrimp doraditos (awesome!) in this Aurora Taco Post. Just wanted to throw some words together over here in their dedicated thread. It had been a while between menu viewings for me so I don't know exactly how long ago but they switched theirs up here. First time around I had no interest in anything on it and waited out Bien Trucha. But a few weeks ago we peeked at it and there was plenty that caught my eye. I guess they decided to stop being so stubborn. They seemed to have brought a few BT favorites next door while mixing up some others. For example I think the chicken/potato flautas at Trucha are the best version of that dish I've ever had. Well they have a pork/potato mixture offering with different sauces on top that's just as good at ATM. So there's really no longer a reason to wait in line at Bien Trucha if there's space available at A Toda Madre. Just thought I'd give a heads up.

Joint moved to Glen Ellyn in Nov. of 2014 - c'mon folks who live closer to Glen Ellyn - hard time believing no ones been. :?

rolled in this past Weds. to give them a try - blown away by the Chilango tacos - skirt steak, chicharon, cilantro-onion, and salsa verde cruda. - Simply a top notch skirt steak taco - loved the crumbled chicharon on top - a squirt of lime was all these needed to be fantastic.

the amuse they put out - a bean dip with crumbled queso and some backend pepper heat is addictive -

the pollo taco - chicken flautas - had way too much going on - smothered in queso, etc.

place could make the regular rotation - drinks were a little steep, but I was thinking about that Chilango taco all weekend.
