I've asked to pick a nice restaurant for a group of five for dinner on a Sunday night in a couple of weeks. Not too strict on the geographic boundaries, other than it being in the city of Chicago. One diner is a strict vegetarian and two are doing a detox-January thing - not a juice cleanse or strictly prescribed meal regimen like Whole30, but no alcohol and an emphasis on vegetables, no dairy, no no excessive oil or frying, etc. I'm struggling to think of a more upscale restaurant that could these parameters - something in the $20-30 per entree range open on Sundays that will be amenable to requests like light on oil, removing dairy, etc. All I've come up with is a good sushi restaurant with a respectable vegetarian selection, like Arami. Any other ideas? Thanks!

If you can go a mile or so beyond the city limits (and near the Dempster el stop) you might want to consider Blind Faith Café in Evanston.

    +1 on Green Zebra.

    I am a non-drinking lacto-ovo vegetarian.

Consider Lula, Mana, and Nico Osteria as well.

Ronnie beat me to it, but +1 on Green Zebra. They can be very specifically accommodating.

Seasons 52 is another option. Calorie counts appear on the menu, most items are under 500 calories, and they have menus for Lactose/Dairy Sensitive, Sodium Friendly, Gluten-Sensitive, Vegetarian, and Vegan. Their menu includes fish and meat options as well. They have a location in River North.

I have always walked by that place. The food is good I take it?

Will give it a go soon. Thanks.

I've been to the one in Schaumburg, and I thought the food was very good - well prepared and tasty. I also like the idea of mini-sized desserts (at a similarly mini-sized price).
