I long for a tuna sandwich like in my youth:
White tuna in water/ mayonnaise/ undisclosed seasonings on white toast.
No hard-boiled egg, relish, onion...celery is ok (only a bit/ finely chopped.)
Can anyone suggest where I may try to see if it comes close to my memory?
    Couple of my favorites where:
~Arnie's Deli in Old Orchard...then later the small cafe/grill in Golf Mill where Arnie's owners were still delivering the best tuna anywhere ( no relation to me)
~Gold Coast dogs (had a stand in Old Orchard Food Court for some time)

    Other memories welcome!

Lakeside Foods in Winnetka has the best tuna my family has ever tasted. It's just tuna, mayo and celery but it's always fresh and delicious! Even my son who hates anything with mayo loves it. They make sandwiches to go on any type of bread, but I love it on whole wheat with nothing-no lettuce or tomato.

I really enjoy the Courtney's Tuna from Foodstuffs (multiple locations), which is a very minimalistic, not-overly-wet take. You can buy it at their deli counter and it's also featured in one of their sandwiches -- The Sorry Charlie (courtney’s tuna salad with romaine lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers on homemade seven grain bread) -- which, by default, may or may not be to your liking. Of course, they will make the sandwich any way you want, and their breads are typically excellent.

I wouldn't describe Foodstuffs as 'old school' very many ways but the Courtney's Tuna definitely is. It's one of my favorite items there.
