    can anyone help me find a spot recommended by a friend: she doesnt know the street or the name, just that it's a block or 2 west of michigan avenue; it has an espresso bar in the basement, the kitchen on the first floor; you eat on the 2d floor and it serves breakfast only until the afternoon and then it closes. oh, and it's on the north side of the street. thanks

    Sunny Side Up & Coffee Shop
    42 E Superior St.

    If that doesn't work out for you, there's always the Original Pancake House on East Bellevue.

    Not sure if it's technically Gold Coast, but there were many an (early) morning spent at Tempo Cafe when I was in law school at NU. Food surprisingly decent, but consider the context of the memory.
