I stopped in today at 3:30, and the above pictured meat was no mas. Gesturing the size of yesterday's spit, I asked Raul what happened. He said, "busy day", and laughed. The last slice was at about 1:30. That's a 28 hour turnover. Assuming they average a two-day cycle, I'd say get there by noon to be safe.

LTH, if this conversation is getting boring, it's probably because you have yet to be blessed with this taco. For that, I am sorry. Once you have, I promise this topic will be a whole lot more interesting.

According to banner on their front window, Tierra Caliente is moving to 3312 W. North Ave.

Damnit! Was excited when I moved 2 blocks away and now it's leaving, too... since we moved to the area we've now lost Chilipan, Honey1, and now Tierra Caliente. Not too much further away, but no longer 2 block walk.

Didn't know if I should start a new thread but visited the new location at 3312 W. North Ave this weekend. At 12:15pm on a Saturday, the place was hopping with no empty seats at the counter and a line three deep; all eyes were on the soccer match on TV. The trompo was in use but there was a holding area for the al pastor on the grill. It seemed like merely a brief hold due to their turnover. I saw the spit whittled away at twice while I was there.

A basket of lonely looking jalapeños begged for snacking while I waited patiently for my tacos. A good combination of crispy, fatty, juicy bits and a few dried out pieces produced a great contrast of texture. A tasty steal at $2.00/taco and well worth the 15 minute wait. They have a small parking lot but street parking was ample.

Haven't yet stopped into the new location... was so disappointed to move just 2 blocks away, only to have them up and leave a few months later.
