Horribly overrated IMO but a pillar of the community nonetheless.

Sunrise in Wheeling bills itself as "Biggest Indian Supermarket." Don't know if "biggest" can be verified, but at 14,000 square feet, it's certainly impressive.

It has only been open for one week, and employees said it will have more to offer as weeks go by, but I thought it was wonderfully well stocked and organized. Large section for fresh veg and fruit, as well as the usual aisles and aisles of spices, mixes, pickles, rice, and other goodies. A whole wall of refrigerated goods and another of frozen. Certainly expands the delightful offerings on the stretch of Dundee Rd. where it's located. In the same strip mall as Krystyna's Deli (Polish/Eastern European) and just a few blocks from Carniceria Jimenez. So Wheeling is suddenly a pretty target-rich environment for food shopping. Hurrah.

I definitely enjoyed Sunrise, and I'm very pleased to have an excellently provisioned Indian grocer so close to home. (Had a few charming little ones in the area, but they usually don't have fresh fruit or veg.)

We went to Froggy's on Saturday, which is right next door and shares valet parking with Disotto. Disotto seemed to be doing "land office business," to use the old expression.

Kimski, the kitchen associated with Maria's Community Bar, officially opens Tues., May 10. http://community-bar.com/

While the space looks small from the street, there is a large beer hall space and a patio out back.

Unfortunately, any hopes I had for a new lunch joint in the neighborhood - especially with Pleasant House moving - are dashed as they won't open till 5 p.m. daily.

Not saying I have any inside information but that could easily change. Many places start with one service a day and then ramp up. So, you may want to ask them their plans when you do eventually stop in.

Cafe Trinidad on 47th Street has closed. It's been replaced by a chicken wings establishment. No indication on the facebook page of what happened and they responded with a one word 'yes' when someone asked if they were permanently closed. Last information was that they were going to Trinidad for the winter months (which they've done before) but this time they didn't re-open.

Bang Bang Pie and Biscuits, 4947 N. Damen opened today: http://chicago.eater.com/2016/5/11/1165 ... swood-open. I happened upon it on my walk home after work. This could get dangerous. I bought a Scratch biscuit with cherry jam and black pepper honey butter (would have liked more pepper) and a slice of key lime pie. Enjoyed the biscuit, saving the pie for tomorrow (or maybe later  ). the short line moved quickly.
