Stopped in the other night for a late-night bite and the new menu is downright compelling. I loved the rich, buttery Crawfish Etouffee and the Red Beans & Rice (with breaded, fried porkchop), neither of which I'd had before. There are a lot more new items to try but our party of 2.5 had limited ordering power. Looking forward to getting back in soon to check out more of the new offerings. Cocktails were lovely (another recently changed menu with a ton of tempting offerings) and service was as good as it gets.

I second the praise for the etouffee which I had for the first time 2 weeks ago. I didn't care as much for the red beans and rice (mainly the fried pork chop part).

As if I needed more reason to love this place, you can continue to walk most nights without much (if any) wait for a table. The exception: Tuesday fried chicken night). That's the only day I walk in and regularly see reservations placards on tables. Also, the last time I was in, they had run out of fried chicken by 7:30, which was a shame.

I don't tend to go to popular restaurants much on Fridays or Saturdays, so you can take my opinion for what it is worth. I will say that two weeks ago, I called and they accommodated a phone reservation for a party of 9 on a Friday evening with 1 day's notice. It was early (before 7), but we still occupied a table for some prime time. I was shocked that they would be willing to fit us in.

The accessibility of this place on days other than Tuesday has been nothing short of astonishing to me. To me, they deserve the line that Fat Rice gets. Not that I'm complaining about being able to walk in...

I should've tried the etouffee last night because the red beans and rice weren't what I was hoping for. In my experience Nola style Red Beans & Rice is much creamier than what I was served last night. Both the texture and flavors were off with the beans having the feel of being pulled too early. Bean to Rice ratio was way off as well. Don't get me wrong I still finished my plate but it wasn't what I was thinking it could be. Dirty Rice is still one of the top 2/3 rice dishes in the city.

Imagine my surprise when I showed up at Analogue at 6:30 last night (Tuesday, which means fried chicken special night) and found the place to be virtually empty, just one couple at the bar. I brought a couple friends too, one a total Analogue newbie (but a lover of fried chicken), the other a friend who has been to Analogue a couple of times, but never Tuesday for the fried chicken. By the time we left (around 7:45), it was filling up, but this was still quite different from when Analogue first started offering the $13 Tuesday fried chicken special where getting a seat (and chicken) was not so easy.

In any event, three guys walked out with smiles from cheek to cheek. The chicken was perfect as always, and so were the potatoes, rice, slaw and biscuit. Starters of scotch egg and smoked fish dip were also as perfect as ever. Add in a rum-based cocktail and all was good.

If I had to design my perfect fried chicken, it would probably have a slightly thinner and more brittle crust (as opposed to the thicker, crunchy crust Analogue offers), but I've still not had fried chicken any better than Analogue's. My friends agreed that there's no better bone-in chicken in town (and personally, if it ain't bone-in, I'm not so interested). It's not just the delicious, well-seasoned crust, but also the moist and very flavorful meat and the fact that they are so damn consistent in terms of breading, seasoning and cooking. And that's why Tuesday is my favorite day of the week folks.

We were also there on a Tuesday (a few weeks ago) and it was pretty empty early on, 6:30-7pm, but by the time we left around 9pm it was really full. It might just be that folks in Logan get a later start.

I hit Analogue for the first time last night and enjoyed everything we had. We started with the smoked fish dip, one of the better I've had (although I'm still partial to my homemade fish dip using Calumet Fisheries smoked trout). Entrees were crawfish etouffee and chicken and dumplings. Crawfish etouffee was possibly the best I've had, a decent amount of heat and loaded with crawfish. I'll join the crowd and praise the dirty rice as well. A minor service issue, the dirty rice was forgotten by the waiter and never put on the ticket. However, once notified, he immediately brought out a batch and put it on the house. Can't wait to get back to try more of the menu and drinks.

I had the crawfish etouffee last night, and it doesn't compare to versions I've had in New Orleans. The version at Analogue is better! I've never had a dish so chock full of tasty crawfish meat before.

Hit Analogue for brunch for the first time the other week and had a nice meal.

I had a hankering for the Chicken and Waffles that I saw on their web menu the night before, but was told it was taken off the menu. Not cool, Analogue. Not cool. Alcohol cures all wounds, though.

We went to Analogue Tues this week for the fried chicken special, arrived at 7pm and got the last chicken dinners! Two people seated right when we were, maybe even before us, but who ordered after us didn't get the chicken they wanted.

It wasn't full then, though it did fill up by the time we left, we were surprised that they ran out. Since they take reservations, it's worth doing that. And next time we'll aim at 6:30 or so!

While the frying prowess of Analogue is well-known and well-deserved, I want to put in a quick shoutout for their ham hock rillette, which may not look like a rillette but has all of the focused intensity of the best pates. Truly one of the most unsung dishes in Chicago.

Yesterday - not a Tuesday - I was very happy to see a "special" of 3 fried chicken wings being offered at Analogue (served with Baby Fredo's Hot Sauce). They were delicious as always, and a very nice treat to have while sitting at the bar. I was there early, so I have no idea how long they lasted but it's good to see their excellent fried chicken, in any form, making an appearance on a night other than Tuesday.

Chef Fredo also told me that they're doing crawfish boils every Sunday while the season -- one of the best in recent years, according to Fredo -- lasts. Maybe a few weeks left of this but I thought it was information that was worth passing on.

I hope she can bring the same passion and inventiveness to the food that Chef Fredo did, and as for the bar program, well I'll wait and see. I'm missing that dirty rice and whitefish spread already.
