This suday 7/10/16 - Theme: "Hangover Cures Around The World"

    2016-bbq-2.jpg

Welcome to the second Montrose BBQ/potluck of the 6th (SIXTH!) annual series! This year they won’t be so much semi-monthly, as it was past summers. I have a super busy schedule this year, but have picked 3 more (counting this one) for the summer. Sorry if anyone was expecting more! The dates will be July 10th, Aug 21st, and Sept 4th. Themes TBA

This week's theme is "Hangover Cures Around The World" - I think this one is pretty self explanatory. Please post with what you plan to bring, so that we don't have 20 people bringing bloody marys (or worse yet, nobody bringing them because they assume someone else must!)

The location and FAQ will remain largely the same. I will update the rest of the schedule once we get more themes and dates figured out, hopefully soon!

Prior years, newcomers from time to time get lost trying to find the spot. It is just north of montrose beach, but that doesn't mean it's on montrose, and it's not exactly on the beach either. It is actually just a little north of Lawrence Ave. Please look at the map and answers to other questions here:
    FAQ AND SCHEDULE.

RSVP below, and please let me know what you plan to bring. You can also RSVP, invite friends, and join the conversation over at the Facebook event page.

For the details, like where, when, what to bring, etc, please see:
    FAQ AND SCHEDULE.

I'm not sure I understand your question but I will say that I find sobriety highly overrated (even though it is clearly the best hangover 'remedy').

Just a heads up, August 20-21, are the dates of the Air & Water show this year, it's a pretty bad day to try to get to the lakefront.

I'll try to come early this Sunday, but I'll have to leave by 1, sigh. I'm thinking about what I'll do, but it will be an Irish hangover cure. One of my cousins cures is a chip butty, basically a sandwich using buttered bread, filled with French fries and ketchup or HP sauce. It's pretty common in England and it works for him, but I've never been able to stomach it.

Thanks for the heads up about the air and water show. Unfortunately this summer got crazy for me, and I don't have any options! I guess we could either make it a late bbq (the show ends at 3), or move it to another park not on the water. Which would people prefer?

First, thanks for doing these picnics they're one of my favorite activities of the summer, I've meet a lot of LTHers I wouldn't have met otherwise. The warmth of this community is wonderful, I know how much you invest in planning these, they're always so surprising for the variety of food and people that come together.

I'd move away from the lake for this one, it's a clusterf*** the day of Air & Water show and that lasts for most of the day. Could we try Wells park or Horner? Anyone else who has an idea, chime in.

There's also River Park, Francisco just south of Foster, always a popular picnic spot.

River Park sounds like a great alternative also.

    I am aiming to come.

When I was hungover all I ever wanted was ginger ale and saltines. And that was in the 20th century no less.

I will come up with something. Tah-dah! Switchel! It has ginger and a grain!

Depends how far the kid's team gets in his tournament --Hope to be back from Ft Wayne in time to catch some of it. And if I do, I'll be bringing a sack of Powers, baby--best hangover remedy I could ever want.

Was hoping to make it back in time but for once, kid's team is GOOD and we're headed to the championship. Have a blast! Going to go get a sack of Powers burgers to celebrate in absentia!
