"Prendergast said he and Haynes will retail a small partnership share in the company, but will no longer but involved in running the bar program or any other managerial aspects of Analogue.

Both Haynes and Prendergast are former Violet Hour bartenders who broke off to open Analogue in December 2013 at 2523 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Danny Kaplan, the current sous chef at Analogue, will be taking over as executive chef this week, Nogueira said.

"It's going to be in really good hands," Nogueira said. "Danny Kaplan is more than qualified for the job ... the entire crew is sticking around to pick it up." "
    *************
Sorry. Guess my standards--correct word usage, punctuation and spelling--are a tad high.

Will "retail" a small partnership share in the company?

But will no longer "but" involved in running the bar?

And switching up the gender of the new chef--no biggie.

That's not even all of the errors.

Ugh. Sorry. That just annoys me. To each his/her own.

This is up there with some of the worst reporting I've seen. Multiple typos, no actual knowledge of the subject upon which he's reporting (Danny??? Really?) Reading this just pissed me off even more.
I think you are being a little harsh to on the reporting, as it seemed fairly professional well-written from in my perspective.

Tons of errors in the report, including the misspelling of someone's name, which is a journalistic sin but even if it had been written perfectly it wouldn't change the sad truth that an era has ended . . . though, Dani can certainly throw down.

If he couldn't get the name of the continuing chef correct, it doesn't say much for the reporting.

Sarcasm emoticon? I thought the obvious (to me at least) poor grammar/syntax of my post would be a giveaway.

Putting aside the substance, I actually came to post that the article looked like it had been run through a crappy translation engine (or simply outsourced to some offshore article-generation facility), but Jen beat me to the punch (in not so many words).

I just reread Matt's post and I think he maybe, possibly, hopefully was taking the piss on that joke of an article. If so, well done--you got me (and a few others!). If not...? Well my post stands :)

Goddamnit. This ruined my morning. Poor reporting/grammar/etc. aside, can anyone tell from this article if (or have inside info on whether) Nogueira is gone effective immediately or is done on some future date? Sounds like the owners/managers are already out (other than retailing some of their units, of course :-)).

Crap writing and reporting aside, I was just pointing out that Fredo said it's in good hands. I guess we shall see.

No doubt Dani Kaplan is super talented. I was at a Mangalitsa pig event at Analogue back in Feburary of 2016 and Fredo told me that Dani was completely responsible for the Charcuterie Plate that was served that night. It was awesome.

Kind of strange timing, as Analogue just got a nice write up in this week's issue of Crain's, and signed some kind of promotional deal with Bank of America (10% off for BofA customers using their debit card).

Bumping, because I find it hard to believe that no one here has been to Analogue since the leadership change, and/or wants to post about it. (Before the regime change, posts about Analogue occurred almost daily it seems.) Maybe a second attempt will elicit a report or two.

FWIW, I have a short anecdotal report from a friend who was there recently, who said, "Still seemed pretty solid."

I went last night but only had drinks and the biscuits and smoked fish dip. The dishes were exactly as I remembered. I can't comment beyond that other than to say that the menu seems to be unchanged.

I'm gutted and I now regret not going there as often as I could. That dirty rice will haunt me until my dying day.

My only solace is that I didn't settle on Analogue for my wedding reception dinner because I'd be SOL at this point.

I second that. Only ate their twice and it was in the last couple months before everyone left. Been there a handful of times but never ate before that. Regret that. Total bummer. Hope they open something on their own. I need one of those po boys again.

A chicken-or-egg question that arouses my curiosity: Was the regime change an early warning signal that the numbers weren't adding up at Analogue? Or did Analogue go under because patrons (who had flocked to it before) abandoned it in droves when word got out of the regime change?

The dearth of Analogue posts around these parts after the regime change makes me wonder if the answer to the second question might be yes.

It was pretty busy when I was in there on Saturday evening (front room and patio were mostly occupied). On multiple occasions (prior to the change), I thought they could use more business during the week.

Bottom line: we will likely never know.

i'm as disappointed as anyone that analogue has closed...but that space isnt going to sit empty for long-not at that location. and we all know what a game of musical chairs the chicago restaurant scene is...i wouldnt bet against someone with a similar vision taking over sooner, rather than later...
