In the last few years, Chicago's craft brewing scene has exploded. To help acquaint you with the breadth of the industry, Gapers Block Events has put together a "microbrewery crawl" showcasing some of the great beers being produced in the city and granting you access to the places where it's made.
The
Gapers Block Microbrewery Crawl on Saturday, July 30 kicks off at the Lagunitas Brewing Co. and travels by bus to Off Color Brewing, where we'll also have a food truck waiting to help soak up some of the suds. From there we'll head to Dovetail Brewery to see an operation that's just getting started, and we'll finish up at The Finch Kitchen, where we'll learn how they've transformed the former Breakroom Brewpub into something new.
For $45 per person, participants will enjoy samples of beers at each stop, and get a tour of four very different breweries, learning how beer is made at the microbrewery and craft brewery scale and what's different about each brewery's approach. This is a truly unique experience and space is limited to 40 people. Past crawls have sold out --
get your tickets now!The crawl begins at 10:30am at Lagunitas, 2607 W. 17th St. (close to the California-Cermak stop on the Pink Line and the Western station on the Metra BNSF line to Aurora). The brewery tour will start around 11am, so don't be late! The tour ends at Finch Kitchen, 2925 W. Montrose Ave. (close to the Francisco stop on the Brown Line and on the 78 Montrose bus route). Transportation is not provided back to Lagunitas, so don't drive to this event, and definitely don't leave your car there. Besides, it's a microbrewery crawl, who thinks driving home is a good idea?
Note: Must be 21 or older to participate in this event. You'll be required to show ID and sign a legal disclaimer at registration.

PS: No, sadly this doesn't mean Gapers Block the publication is coming back. We are continuing to produce events as part of GB's mission of getting people to slow down and check out cool things around the city.
