You guys! So I was super hot and tired and in search of a satisfying quick lunch today, and I realized I hadn't been in to Mini Palapita since its switch from being a Pasadita Express. Maybe I caught them on a good day, maybe the heat made me delirious, but this asada was the TRUTH! Way better than my memory of the former Pasadita outpost.
To be completely honest, I had the asada burrito, and not the asada tacos, and I can feel your judgment, but I'm okay with that, because today was a burrito kind of day. It was a beautiful thing--meat, onions, cilantro, green salsa, that's it. The chips they served were dope as well. The closest analog would be to Taqueria El Asadero on Montrose.

I feel like Seebee needs to try this place, as he is the only person who thinks about asada more than I do.

    Love,
    John

I gave up on Elston Pasadita Express a while ago, nice to know there's a new Taqueria in the space. Lately I've been going to Taqueria 5 de Mayo just west of Western on Montrose for my quick taco fix, vg carne asada, terrific chile relleno and ok lengua, same owner as El Asadero with more parking and tables/chairs instead of fixed bench small booths.

Glad you posted, I'll have to try soon.

    Thanks for the shout-out!

I haven't had any A+ grade broiled carne asada tacos in quite a while. I've settled into "Standard B grade" from Zacatacos - char broiled - usually overcooked but still a solid b, and on rare occasions, they step up to A grade. If it was comparable to a good day at Asadero, I know exactly how good it was.

Do you recall if they still had the fantastic black salsa? We live fairly close there and miss L.P.

Sorry for the delay, I was out of town this past week. Sadly, I'm not sure--they asked what kind of salsa I wanted and I opted for green, so I'm not sure if they still have the black available.
