Jollibee is bigger than McDonalds in the Philippines and for Filipinos that haven't been home in some time this is a real treat!!!

So I drove through the Western/Diversey/Elston intersection and noticed that what was once Niko's Gyros is now Chop Society. I don't know if this is a new place altogether or just a name change. Anyone have any info on this development?

Meant to mention this earlier: Pei Wei at Randhurst Village (owned by PF Chang's) closed a few weeks ago. I think they (and their customers) had a hard time determining whether they were more like Panda Express or Big Bowl. I was there a couple times, and the food was moderately priced, decent, but nothing exciting (perhaps even authentic for Ameri-Chinese, as nobody ever understood the words "extra spicy please"). It certainly was rarely my first choice for eating in that neighborhood.

A Google search indicates that all Illinois and Louisiana locations closed at the end of June.

Oromo Cafe has a sign in the window saying they are doing some friends and family testing with grand opening set for Saturday, August 6.

Web site has no real information yet beyond coming soon. Facebook page is rather short on information although I note two five-star reviews dated June 9 and July 30.

DNA Info did a story on June 24. It sounds rather ambitious.

This reminds me of an extra thread that was temporarily created for Barn & Company when the original poster kept calling it The Barn. This is tantamount to calling Cream, The Cream.

I'm guessing you are referring to Jollibee, but there's no way to know for sure. If it was Jollibee, we already know it is open for business.

Also noted in this article are the closures of Noodle Zone in Andersonville and Inspiration Kitchen in Uptown.

Subway has more than 44,000, which brings to mind the old Onion headline "New Starbucks Opens in Rest Room of Existing Starbucks."

My point was that it is not "weird" to a hell of a lot of people and it's frustrating to have your food dismissed as such.

Not weird in the Phillipines, not weird to Filipinos, but weird to American tastes. Much like chili cheese fries and Lou Malnati's would be weird in Asia or parts of Europe.

Waffles Cafe on 230 E. Ohio has served its last Liege Waffle and Wonut. I walked by there this AM for breakfast, and the place has a for rent sign and looks gutted out.

According to big banners and its Facebook page, Libanais Sweets is opening in the spot briefly occupied by Jaffa Bakery, 3300 W. Devon, in Lincolnwood. I don't know if that means the shop next to NY Bagel & Bialy is closing.

Nope. The Touhy location is staying put. This will be a 2nd (and much larger) location.

The Jollibee Phenomenon
Jollibee opened a few weeks ago the lines are still incredible.
I passed by at 7:30am Saturday and there were about 100 people in line. I feel sorry for Jimmy Johns and all the other stores in the strip just west of Jollibees.
Not one available parking space in the whole strip.
I went for a sub Saturday afternoon and the crowds have invaded the Walmart parking lot as well.

We stopped by last Sunday around 6 PM and were told there was a 4 hour wait! We had dinner at Halal Guys instead.
