I forgot to post that I would be there too. It's been a while since I've had Chicken Shack!

These picnics are always a good time. There's still time to signup.

Five us enjoyed our fried chicken in the great outdoors this afternoon. Evanston Chicken Shack's fried chicken was excellent as always: hot, juicy, crispy.

Other items we tried were met with mixed reviews. Best of these was the red beans and rice, which was well-balanced seasoned rice with red beans that were properly cooked (not mushy). The large biscuits were quite decent and would have been improved if we'd had some butter and honey at our picnic. Onion rings were okay, but no doubt right from the freezer. Ditto for the fries. Don't bother with the bland and boring fried shrimp.

If, like several of the Evanston Lunch Group folks, you have always driven by ECS without stopping, stop and try it. You'll be very glad you did.
