Salt and pepper soft-shell crabs are the best I've had. Each dish we've ordered has been tasty and balanced - never too salty, sweet, etc. BYOB right now. Check it out and post your reviews. I'm eager to see if everyone's response is as enthusiastic as mine. If so, this could become HTForum.
The regular readers at LTHForum are not surprised, I am sure, but I went to
Hoang Thanh a few times in the first few weeks that it was open. I did not really feel the need to post about it, but since you mention it, I will say that what I sampled was some of the most disappointing food that I have eaten in the Argyle neighbourhood, in particular, and of the Chinese variety, more generally.
I have a special place in my heart for gloppy, bland, Americanized Chinese food, but this stuff, this stuff was beyond the pale.
I guess that it is time for a reevaluation.
