Trying to find Turkey Hill All Natural Ice Cream at a store

I am trying to find this available at a store in the area for purchase:

I live in Portage Park area. I phoned the two closest stores to me listed on the TH website (Food4less on North Ave. and Strack N Van Til on Elston) and they say they don't carry it. I am only interested in the All Natural line. If you have seen it for sale somewhere or see it when out, please let me know.

Would also love to know of any other ice creams without gums available for sale near me. I do know I can get Haagen Dazs. Just trying to find something cheaper.

Also looking for Blue Bunny Premium Vanilla Bean if you see it anywhere. I just contacted the company so maybe I will hear back from them. I am also trying to avoid annatto and artificial dyes.

Went to the Elston Strack and Van Til this morning, did not see any Turkey Hill but they did have Blue Bunny Vanilla Bean ice cream.

Aldi "Specially Selected" brand has 5 ingredients. None of them are gums or dyes.
I bought another brand at jewel a few weeks ago, it was on sale for dirt cheap. It was a brand with a "natural" line, and an, um..non-natural line we'll call it. I forgot the brand name, but as I type, it came back to me - "Hudson," or, "Hudsonville?" I'd check on them, the natural line was same price, smaller package, but the ingredient list was VERY short. That Aldi brand tho, I thought it was decent.

Just remember, both of the brands I'm posting about have the 50 ingredient label, too. You have to search for the "natural" line which means sifting through the others.

Thanks so much for the replies! I bought the Aldi ice cream today in Vanilla and Chocolate. It looks like the other Specially Selected flavors in pints have a lot more ingredients. We will be trying it this week. I believe I saw the Hudsonville brand at Whole Foods and it did have gums in it. I will have to double check that it was that brand (among others) that I saw. The "gums" (probably guar in this case, it was Kirkland vanilla ice cream with very few ingredients) seems to make my child sick and it caused a missed day of school last week. Thanks again!

Turkey Hill is a Kroger's brand and not one of their top brands. It is generally found in lower end Kroger stores. discount affiliates and the various Kroger convenience stores. You will NOT find it in most Kroger's stores as they generally only sell the Kroger's brand and the Private Selection brand. The latter is probably the BEST grocery store ice cream that I have ever had.

I looked for it when I was at the New City Mariano's this past weekend, they did not have it.

Actually, if their website is up to date, Turkey Hill is carried by Woodmans Supermarkets.

I do question whether it is up to date as a store that Kroger's sold to St. Louis based Schnucks six years ago is listed as a Kroger's. When it was owned by Kroger's, it was branded as a Hilander store.

Historically, Breyer's was without gums.

A quick Google search showed it at Target on their website. Hope that helps. Also the Turkey Hill website lists several Food4Less. I will see if I can stop by the Melrose Park store this week and see if they have it.

Yes, in the past Breyers ice cream was free of gums, but now it contains tara gum (has physico-chemical properties similar to guar gum, but one of its manufacturers claims certain advantages as a food additive). It looks like recent Unilever television commercials for Breyers are somewhat deceptive about its ingredients.

Super disappointing. I almost always make my own these days or pay the price for "gourmet/local/organi/small-batch" ice cream at local shops or in "fancy food" shops/emporiums.

FYI, just saw Turkey Hill ice cream at the New City Mariano's.
