A slight correction regarding the "very few outside tables" at Boston Fish Market. We were there recently and did an informal estimation revealing the outside area will now comfortably seat upwards of 200 people. They've created a patio area that goes all the way back towards the rear of the building with enough room for 40-50 tables or more, each capable of seating 4-6 people.
OTOH, it was still packed with a longish line, and this was near closing time. AND...all of this conjecture about the outdoor seating is based on clear weather. If it's raining, none of this matters anyway.
But, if that happens, you haven't driven all that way for nothing. Des Plaines has suddenly become a restaurant lover's destination. Granted, it ain't Lake Perch, but as long as you're here, we've got two new Puerto Rican restaurants, a couple of Bulgarian joints,
several other Eastern European options ranging from down and dirty diner style to higher end white table cloth experiences, a very cozy Pupuseria, a high quality Burger joint taking a run at Paradise Pup, a very good Vietnamese place in the downtown area, and a whole mess o' Taquerias. Details available upon request.
Happy B-day!
