I need to host a rehearsal dinner for 70-90 people. I'd like it to be in River North, because I want it to be in walking distance from the hotels people will be staying at. The date is in June 2017.

    All recommendations are welcome!

Maggiano's can probably accommodate that party size and meets your geographic requirements.

Not sure how fancy you would want the event to be, but Quartino's might be an option as they have an upstairs space where they have events.

Quartino's was my first idea, but they are already taken for our date!

Opentable will allow for searches on larger groups:

Knowing that Quartino was considered is helpful but maybe throw in a few more details--price range would be a big one, type of food/atmosphere (traditional sit-down dinner v. something more edgy/creative, continental-type cuisine v. asian/other ethnic, etc.). And for boundaries, River North is a little vague--maybe give a boundary of how far south/east/north/west you would consider. Like would south of Michigan be considered as long as it was east of "X"?

My immediate thought was that the Gage has a great room downstairs and a fun menu--but I wasn't sure if that was too far south for you.

    Most of all, congratulations!!!

Nacional 27 could be a candidate.

In a similar vein, Carnivale does a nice job with larger groups.

Bin 36 did a nice job for ours. Passed apps, no dinner.

Not exactly downtown, but we had our daughters rehearsal dinner in June two summers ago at the City Winery. Drinks before dinner on the pretty patio and then upstairs to their private area for dinner. We had about 65 guests and it worked out great. Reasonable also!

Try Eataly or Mity Nice Grill. I would suggest Naha but I don't know if their private space is large enough.

City Winery has a Riverwalk location open during late Spring-early Autumn (closing end of Oct for the season). A possibility for June 2017. River Roast is also a nice casual spot on the Riverwalk.

River Roast does a nice job and so does the Kitch'n.

We had ours at Foodlife... there is a private room just to the left of Mity Nice entrance, we had them do a "Taste of Chicago" buffet, with mini hot dogs, Italian beef, pasta, salad, taco bar, etc.

We had ours at Lou Malnati's, if you want super-casual. My sister also had hers at Lou Malnati's, because pizza.

    Love,
