Jersey Mike's Subs opens November 16th in Bannockburn Green Shopping Center. Definitely would rather have it than Subway or Jimmy Johns. Tony's Subs down the street in Deerfield was never that impressive to me. A little bit of strange spot for this location. I would have thought they'd be in the Deerbrook Mall area before here.

I'm feeling a little iffy about the Khanburger. Couldn't they offer cheddar cheese, too?

Cheddar cheese would not be authentic -- and I don't think you'd want the cheese they do make in Mongolia on a burger. :)

When I did a program on my travels in Mongolia at the Glenview Library last year, probably 1/3 of the audience was Mongolian -- so I'm guessing they've reached whatever kind of critical mass is needed to support a restaurant. I looked at some of the reviews, and most of those posting have Mongolian names, so they've clearly connected with their audience. I'm looking forward to checking in and finding out how some favorite dishes have translated into American. No "beef" over there -- yak or fatty mutton. Thanks for the heads up. Need to get there.

Stopped by the recently opened King Beefy on 1513 W. Irving Park Road ordering a beef with hot and fries. I'd normally give a place that is really close a couple strikes before I write them off, but this was bad enough for me to not go back. Beef was small, flavorless and rubber. Bun was bad. The fries were the handcut variety. All in all, it looked like a place looking to serve really cheap food but not focus on quality.

I visited there a handful of times. I kept telling the staff there that, cognizant of what was going on across the street, it needed to have a hamburger named after Rick Astley.

—Mirabella Italian Restaurant’s opening has been delayed. The restaurant, pegged to open on Thursday in Avondale, decided to push the opening until next week due to construction around their block. Nearby work from People’s Gas was knocking out water and gas in the restaurant, according to a restaurant rep. The restaurant, from the executive chef at Gene & Georgetti, was to open inside the Mirabell space. That’s the beloved German restaurant that closed after 38 years.

Per Mirabella's FB page, the grand opening is on for this evening (Thursday December 8th).
