There likely is a thread for this already, but I don't know what search terms I would use to find it. Anyway, what are some dinner places you like that are holiday-decorated out the ying-yang? A place where, if you found yourself in it, you would have absolutely no doubt as to what time of year it was?

Marie's! Shiny, glittery eye candy to go with some of Chicago's best pizza.

Riddlemay's query was merged into this thread earlier this afternoon. If you go to page 1, you will find the old thread.

Most overdone Christmas display at any restaurant I've ever seen.

An update: Based on responses here we made a reservation for our party of six at Marie's for last night. At around 5 pm I received a call from the restaurant that they were closed because of a gas leak. While disappointed, I greatly appreciated that they took the trouble to call before we headed over there. On short notice we were able to get in to Fork in Lincoln Square (happily, since the place was full), where a cozy good time was had by all amidst more modest (but still festive and very Christmassy) Christmas trappings. Just wanted to let you know that the Marie's recommendations were most appreciated and we hope to go there next Christmastime (if not before)!

Wow, you are lucky they called - that's nice of them. I had a similar experience once after a concert nearby at Copernicus Center. Marie's was closed for some reason (I think it was equipment repair), which was a disappointment.

I have a somewhat out of the way place for most of you, but it's a favorite of mine and my friends - The Lantern in Lake Forest. It's very much a locals pub and restaurant, with great service all the time, in a warm environment with a good amount of Christmas decor and lights plus model railroad trains running overhead. They are famous for their burgers which are excellent. In fact, I'd go there over Charlie Beinlich's if given the choice. It's right next to the Lake Forest Metra station for those in the city or North Shore.

    Hello,
Looking for a place to take someone to lunch that is beautifully decorated for Christmas. Wayside Inn is one, are there any other restaurants that are similar in the atmosphere?
