Carbon Arc in the Davis Theater building opened yesterday. Walking past this afternoon it is basically one large room with a bunch a flat-screen TVs on the west wall. Entrance is directed through the Davis Theater lobby, but that may be due to the weather. Gilbert Langlois is the chef. Food menu bears little resemblance to what he had at Chalkboard.

Cookie Spin is now open a bit farther south barely in North Center. They have some interesting cookies. I bought a maple bacon cookie for Saturday after snow shoveling.

Tony's Subs down the street in Deerfield was never that impressive to me. A little bit of strange spot for this location. I would have thought they'd be in the Deerbrook Mall area before here.

The owner is an acquaintance of mine and they're staffing the place through an organization that finds employment for veterans. :D

Brendan Sodikoff, whose Hogsalt Hospitality owns Au Cheval, High Five Ramen, Green Street Smoked Meats and the California Clipper along with nearly a dozen other spots in Chicago, has set his sights on New York.
Set a few steps below grade on Charles Street just off Greenwich Avenue, 4 Charles Prime Rib opened in the West Village on Dec. 14. The restaurant evokes the old-school charm of Bavette's Bar & Boeuf in River North with tufted red leather booths, dark woods, crystal chandeliers, lace curtains and vintage paintings.

There have been rumors being whispered in the neighborhood for a while, but now it's official. Phil Stefani is taking over the former Kow Kow (and Billy's before that) space on Cicero & Pratt.

A sign went up today saying that the restaurant will open "Summer 2017".

More news as it becomes available.

It sounds like a pretty ambitious time table to me, but I'm looking forward to this place opening, whenever that might be.
