Per Facebook, Kinderhook Tap (Oak Park) will close permanently 2/15; it is being sold to finance Starved Rock Brewing, another project of the owners.

It was famous for being the seafood restaurant next to the 1st Angry Crab. Website refers to a kitchen remodel last August, phone is disconnected. The new place was called Taste of Szechuan (or "Bite" or something else). I can't find the new place with a quick Google search. Good luck to the Szechuan place.

The shuttered Sally's Waffle Shoppe, 5454 N. Harlem Ave., will be replaced by the city's fourth Cozy Corner Restaurant & Pancake House, according to its former owner.

And even though he said payroll and rent were most important, he thought a loan was coming so he allegedly paid some bills that didn't include rent, payroll, or employee insurance. If that is to be believed.
I wonder how many of these stories we have to read before everyone gets the hint Phil Tadros is someone that you should avoid.
I live by the Mariano Park /Viagra Triangle area. A good man had that stand for 12 years and then the City gave it to Phil. They still are awaiting their first rent payment.
More Tadros shenanigans.....Tadros' Aquanaut lacked a brewing license for 5 months

Bow Truss, the financially troubled Chicago coffee company that shuttered most of its cafes last month amid a cash crunch, has sued erstwhile suitor Marcus Lemonis, alleging he and his food holdings company committed fraud during its courtship to purchase the coffee roaster.

Oh no! That's a HUGE loss, a place with unique high-quality pastries that you just can't get anywhere else.

Anyway, I just saw a new business license for a new restaurant at 1551 N Orleans, which isn't far away at North & Orleans. Guessing it's the same people opening in that space.

Everyblock is showing a food inspection for O'Briens at 315-317 W. North Ave., the old Mizu space that's been vacant for years. I'll check it out after work to see if there's any activity going on in the space.
Edit: 315-317 W. North is the same building as 1551 N. Orleans.
La Boulangerie, which was open for three years right on the square at 2569 N. Milwaukee Ave., plans to reopen at 3129 W. Logan Blvd.
LAKEVIEW — A fire broke out Wednesday evening at ROCKS Lakeview, neighborhood haunt known for its whiskey and burgers near Boystown.

"Word travels fast but if you didn't hear, we had a fire," the message read. "Everyone's safe but we'll be down for a bit. Stay tuned, folks."
