I don't think so. There is going to be an actual bar.

Definitely not BYOB. In fact, the beer and wine list will be slightly expanded from what Burt carried. Still no hard liquor.

And just to be clear, it's a very small bar, maybe three to four seats, max. Just big enough for people waiting for a pick up to sit and have a drink.

Hi Buddy
I hope the fewer knickknacks means you were safely able to dispose of Burt's old glass ball fire extinguishers. They're full of Carbon tetra-chloride. I tried to convince Burt that they're dangerous, but you know how he was.
I'm sure the MG fire department Hazmat team can help you if you've still got them.

Can anybody (Jeff?) tell me if there are plans to be open for lunch?

The plan we've discussed wa to get up to speed with the same schedule Burt used up to the day he closed for good. Once we get that under our belts we'd look into expanding hours and number of days we'll be open.

So the short answer is, no at first, possibly yes in the long run.

And folks, I expect lots of pictures from you folks that get to be there Friday night.

I don't plan to make a habit of posting specific business related updates, but since this is the first weekend, and there's lots of interest, I'll provide some helpful information.

Needless to say, Friday is almost completely booked for dine-in orders. There might still be a couple of slots available at 9 or 9:30. Also, some availability for pick ups throughout the night.

Saturday, so far, is still fairly open for both pick ups and eat-ins, although, the later in the evening you can go, the better.

Same story for Sunday.

Now the big news; contrary to what I stated up-thread, we'll be open seven days a week, effective immediately. So, if you want to be an early adapter, but don't want to put up with weekend craziness, you'll have almost unlimited access this Monday and Tuesday. But still no lunch hours.

Hope that helps. Looking forward to seeing many of you over the coming days and weeks.

I see this all as welcome news, but I differ with Steve Dolinksy on one point: as a child who grew up on Sesame Street, I prefer to think of the locals as Morton Grovers.

I know there's been a lot of talk about the new owners learning how to make the pizza. But has anybody tried the onion rings yet? I looked forward to the onion rings as much as the pizza whenever I was able to eat in.

Ugh, Pepsi. Those guys must be giving away the soda machines or something. How disappointing, I really dislike Pepsi.

Soda has never been a strong suit at Burt's. You should probably get over that and think about the pizza.

It appears that the webpage is still a work in progress as the About Us section is only generically labeled with direction on what content should be there and filled in, as you noticed

I have to think they have been busy getting everything up and running and will tweak the website in the future although it is a bit odd IMO.

Maybe in this case, no news is bad news and out of respect for The Beloved Burt's Place they are waiting for them to find their groove?

Smartest thing I've ever read on this site.

Seriously though, I'll give them mad props for nailing the Pizza. Out of the hundreds (yes, hundreds) of pies they've managed to crank out over the last seven days, only a couple of negative comments were made. Everyone else has been extremely pleased with the quality and taste. Most say their expectations were met or exceeded. Including me.

The reservation/seating issue is still evolving as we try to find a middle ground between Burt's absolutism and a more flexible system that will better accommodate walk-ins.

Bottom line: Giovanna's plan to wait a few weeks is the best route. Believe me, we ain't hurtin' for your business right now. Stay home and give the boys a chance to work it all out.

Buddy, is this why my phone calls yesterday and today went directly to a voicemail system which the message advises is not the main system, and is thus never checked and messages shouldn't be left on it?
