On Friday, the Schaumburg location of this Chipotle concept was giving away free food for anyone that was willing to wait inline. Co-workers stated that at lunchtime the line was 70 deep out the door. I passed by mid afternoon & there was a line of ~14. Needless to say I didn't partake on Friday.

Today was a different story at 11:15AM, no line & easy access.

I had the a ShopHouse bowl with jasmine rice, chicken/pork meatballs, papaya slaw, red curry, crushed peanuts and a fiery chopped Thai chilies topping. I did w/o the charred corn.

The papaya slaw is problematic as it overwhelms any red curry flavor. Meatballs a tad dry but acceptable.

I'm not in any hurry to rush back, some other eateries here in Schaumburg I have yet to fully explore.

    ShopHouse (Schaumburg location)
1022 N Meacham Road (1 block south of Golf Road)
    Schaumburg, IL 60173
    Open daily 11am–10pm
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

Yeah, I tried this in DC when I was living there and they opened. It's nothing special, but it's a better option than fast food, but that's about it. It's the Asian Chipotle (which if you're in the suburbs, is sometimes all you have; disclaimer: I've never been to Schaumburg).

I visited the Schaumburg location a week or so back. ~11:30 there was no line but that changed in fairly short order. They were running on edge of turnover issues when we left. I tried the salad/chicken/charred corn/red curry/slaw/thai chile. I think they're having some consistency issues with the bowl construction. I didn't notice the slaw as being overwhelming. OTOH I seem to recall my friends bowl looking a bit more full. Overall it was what you might expect of Chipotle doing asian food (I wonder why that would be). Not bad for a $10-11 lunch but you can probably do better.

The Schaumburg location is in an odd little strip mall. IIRC it was a Bally Fitness. You can enter/exit from southbound Meacham Rd. Otherwise you have to use the stoplight on the corner of American Lane. The shopping center has a Starbucks with a drive thru. It makes the traffic patterns that much more entertaining.

Went to the Loop location which opened on Monday. Long line and small space, line was already looped around inside and it got even worse by the time I ordered. Probably a combination of new/only location in the Loop, people going there don't know what they want, and workers are still figuring it out. I got a salad bowl with the pork/chicken meatballs (chicken was a 5 minute wait, must be popular), with broccoli, peanut sauce, papaya salad, and pickled veggies. I really enjoyed it and will be adding this to my rotation. Will most likely go with the chicken satay next time.

Just south of the fitness place, ShopHouse is in the strip mall on the NW corner of American Lane & Meachum.

Bibibop Asian Grill said Friday that it is the buyer of the leases for 15 closed ShopHouse Asian Kitchen locations, a deal that will double the Columbus, Ohio-based chain’s size virtually overnight.
