Has anyone seen this around? I remember seeing it advertised in a taquería storefront window in Little Village, but now that I am asking for it, I cannot find it anywhere.

This old post on Mexican Lenten specialties includes a bit on capirotada. Though I didn't mention it in that post, almost all those restaurants had it on the menu (but I wouldn't automatically assume that's true this year). Capirotada shouldn't be too hard to find, at least in certain neighborhoods, but your chances will be better on Fridays. Try to sample Norma's version at Birrieria Zaragoza (call to check availability), the best I've had by a wide margin.

Norma's version looks great, but I have to say a little surprising for the birriería! I know she has a inspired touch, since she makes the delicious machitos for the weekends, and she confided that her agua de jamaica is free of bitterness because she does not steep it in hot water.
