After discussing whether any of these fried goodies (not the shrimp) were sourced locally, I asked the owner and he said the smelt, yellow perch & blue gill were brought down from Canada, which led to a meandering discussion about the breeding habits of smelt. G-rated, of course.
I don't care
where this stuff came from, because to my way of thinking half the battle is in the breading & frying, which at the Cap't's is pretty darn close to a 10/10. I just like the way they do it. And of course, the jumbo fried shrimp had that snap!
EC Dave was curiously close-mouthed about the upcoming foray next month, which is fine because I have a Russian hacker friend who also reads minds...
