    Hi all!
I'm often tasked with bringing in sweets for parties. I'd like to bolster my rotation since so many places have closed. Do you have recommendations within, say, half a mile from a Red, Brown, or Blue line stop? I'll also take Green downtown or south side.

    Thanks!

That is a great map! I wanted to throw in a couple of recommendations from adventures on the brown line:

Western: Baker Miller (4610 N Western); big fan of the sourdough cinnamon rolls

Addison: Blue Sky (3720 N Lincoln); nice bakery which has also has a mission to employ homeless or at-risk youth

Paulina: Dinkels (3329 N Lincoln) and Loba (3422 N Lincoln); especially Loba, which is doing really interesting pastry and is basically next door to the Paulina stop. I don't feel like this place is getting quite the love that Bad Wolf did but I do think Val is putting out pretty good stuff.

I'll start with the four I think are the very best of these.

Floriole - near the Fullerton stop on the Red/Brown/Purple lines

Alliance Bakery - near the Division stop on the Blue line

Vanille Patisserie - 3 locations; French Market is near all L lines; Lincoln Park is near the Sedgwick stop on the Brown/Purple lines; Lakeview is near the Belmont stop on the Red/Brown/Purple lines

Southern France - near the Sheridan stop on the Red line

Toni Patisserie - Loop location is near all L lines

Maison Parisienne - near the Belmont stop on the Red/Brown/Purple lines

Jennivee’s Bakery - near the Belmont stop on the Red/Brown/Purple lines

Bittersweet Pastry - near the Belmont stop on the Red/Brown/Purple lines

La Boulangerie - 2 locations; Lakeview is near the Belmont stop on the Red/Brown/Purple lines; Ravenswood is near the Damen stop on the Brown line

Chiu Quon Bakery - near the Argyle stop on the Red line

Patisserie P - near the Argyle stop on the Red line

Cellar Door Provisions - near the Logan Square stop on the Blue line

Delightful Pastries - 2 locations; French Market is near all L lines; Jefferson Park is near the Jefferson Park stop on the Blue line

La Fournette - 2 locations; Old Town is near the Sedgwick stop on the Brown/Purple lines; Lakeview is near the Fullerton stop on the Red/Brown/Purple lines

Hendrickx Bakery - near the Chicago stop on the Red line

Since you're the pie lady, you're probably already familiar with:

Bang Bang Pie - 2 locations; Ravenswood is near the Damen stop on the Brown line; Logan Square is near the California stop on the Blue line

Hoosier Mama Pie - 2 locations; Chicago is between the Chicago and the Division stops on the Blue line; Evanston is near the Main stop on the Purple line

Speaking of Evanston, I know you didn't ask about the Purple line, but it's an extension of the Red line, and in addition to Hoosier Mama, you have...

Al's Deli near the Noyes stop on the Purple line (their cookies are awesome)

Patisserie Coralie near the Davis stop on the Purple line

Bennison's near the Davis stop on the Purple line

Hewn near the Dempster stop on the Purple line

And then there are the donut places, most of which are near L stops:

    Firecakes
    Glazed & Infused
    Do-Rite Donuts
    Doughnut Vault
    Stan's Donuts
    Beaver's Donuts

At the northernmost tip of CTA mass transit lies the best scones in the whole Chicago area (Cellar Door is close, but not always in stock, unreliable variety).

Thanks, a lot of these I never heard of. And I am indeed familiar with the pie shops but didn't know they were so close to L lines. This could be bad...

I am so pleased to report that there are at least two people (besides me) in our 6-person management team that prefer pie over any other dessert. JACKPOT!

    Ooh. Are you hiring? :D

We need a version of that map, but for pie. I feel like I'm fairly un-pie-informed after Hoosier Mama and Bang Bang.

The one additional business that specifically specializes in pie is the four locations of First Slice Pie Cafe, in Ravenswood (near the Montrose stop on the Brown line), Manor (near the Francisco stop on the Brown line), Andersonville (near the Berwyn stop on the Red line), and Evanston (near the Davis stop on the Purple line).

Lots of bakeries, including some of the ones mentioned above by everyone, make pie, although many offer only a handful of the common types. For specific recommendations of other places to check out, you may want to look though these listings:

Not specifically for MT-level positions, unfortunately!

At about .8 miles from the Davis stop, the evanston location does not qualify as nearby.

Bittersweet was already mentioned (and is one of my favorites), so I'll list Artemio's (3919 N Sheridan), right outside the Sheridan Red Line stop.

I haven't been to the Southern France Patiesserie (1405 W Irving Park Rd) yet, but it's about a 5-10 min walk from the same station.
