This place is in Evanston's cursed location, across from the library on Church street. Its housed uberburger, funky monk and many other failed places. (I loved uberburger, tho)
Carried out a few things the other night a mostly hits and one miss: The pork banh mi was pretty good. Fillings, sauce and toppings were great. Bread not amazing but OK. The pork summer roll was also excellent, three fat little rolls perfectly stuffed and a tasty sauce. Papaya salad was very good. Would definitely go back to try another banh mi, chicken, tofu and shrimp are the other options.
Vermicelli noodle salad was a bust. Hardly any noodles and strange bitter greens. Vinagrette dressing also kind of off flavor.
Airy bright space. Counter service. Very small, maybe room for a dozen diners but a small sidewalk cafe offers more space.
Anyone else been? Impressions?
