I'm still super excited that it's going to be opening up in the city, but cannot find any updates on it.

I think this is the latest: https://chicago.eater.com/2016/9/15/12928754/h-mart-korean-market-chicago-west-loop

I work at Adams and Jefferson so between this and the little Indian market a half block down on Jefferson (not to mention a Mariano's and a Whole Foods right over the expressway), I'm experiencing an embarrassment of riches sensation that would have been unimaginable when I first landed in this creepy little downtown backwater eight years ago. I won't believe it, in fact, until I'm walking out of that H Mart with a bag of daikons and a tub of doenjang.

So jealous of your proximity to all of that!

A food mart inside will contain SGD Tofu House & BBQ Restaurant (a chain also known as So Gong Dong), Japanese and Hawaiian restaurant Izakaya Yume and Baru, a Korean spot. Cafe L'Ami bakery will serve Korean and French desserts.

Dropped by the H-Mart today for the grand opening. Since it's three block from my office I didn't mind braving the lunchtime/opening day throngs. It's a nice looking store and well configured, and, from what I've read online and gleaned from a distance, the food court options look decent. Still, I'm primarily excited about the Asian grocery offerings, very glad the place is finally open and looking forward to returning with a shopping list (and fewer crowds).

I plan to go there tonight! I'm glad it looks great so far.

They were carving up this blue fin and giving out free samples a couple Saturdays ago. It was delicious, tasted like they used to serve it at Itto's sushi.

We made our first visit on Saturday. A nice alternative to Joong Boo for us. Very nice, bright store with an easier to navigate parking lot. Lots of employees and quick check out.

Much better produce section, both in depth of selections and quality.

I felt there are more options for condiments, rice, noodles, etc at Joong Boo, but I haven't been able to get brown rice cakes at Joong Boo in a couple of years and success at H Mart.

bnl - I have to go back and NOT miss that. I think I went in too late on one of those Saturdays. I just saw the head sitting on ice.

Al Ehrhardt - I liked the quick checkout too!
