... it's a taco joint right near the original McDonalds in Des Plaines ?

More importantly, is it any good ? I'm coming to town for a coupla days again, working in Des Plaines, and recall somebody telling me that it's a pretty good place for tacos, carnitas, in particular.

It's hard damn work coming up with an eating itinerary for your town ! The more you learn, the harder it gets ....

I think this is what you are looking for. I believe it's the same owners as La Pasadita.

I've only had a couple of Tacos de Carne Asada there -- serviceable, nothing fabulous. The place is less than stellar on ambience, kind of grungy even.

As long as you're going to be in Des Plaines, you should make it a point to check out the old school Italian and crispy crust pizza at Romanos.

Or maybe an excellent hamburger with fries at the Paradise Pup, 1724 South River Road.

Thanks. Looks like there won't be any tacos in Des Plaines for me.

Had the Pup's burger, which I liked.

Romano's looks like a good option -- but should I even bother with ordering by the slice ? Pie's are always better, but I'll be solo.

I still haven't come up with any destinations for my trip yet. Maybe the Oaxoan place. Maybe Eastern European. I try to get some small bites every time - fish tacos, pupusas, dogs, ... maybe a jibarito is in my future.

I'm always welcome to your great suggestions.

I don't think slices are an option. It's more of a sit down restaurant or carry out.
