Following previous short lived Piggyback BBQ and Adobo Grill (among others), it's a bold move being 2 blocks from Cafecito.
Right by my office, hope it's good. Piggyback BBQ couldn't stand up to Blackwood and I never tried Adobo.
I think the address is WELLS not Franklin (176 N Wells St)
Also, not a good sign from the posting on there facebook page today:
- Code: Select all
Cubano: Latin Street Food
Thank you to everyone who has tried our restaurant and spread the good word about our cubanos! Unfortunately, the menu will be changing this week due to culinary and owner change. Our apologies.

Freaked me out for a minute - first I thought Bacci remodeled, then I noticed it was a bar without pizza ovens.
Apparently the old owners stopped paying their rent and got evicted on St. Pat's day. Then it got completely remodeled with much of the new items that were modeled into The Dugout below, from the "Bar Rescue" show (which apparently no one liked). So they were repurposed. The place looks nice and is bigger, and nice and new/clean looking. But the only pizza they have is in a little turning heater up front, and it's not very good. The new bartender who had only been there a week or two told me what happened. Right now it's not called anything, but he said he guesses it's "The Dugout II".
Sad about Bacci. Great place for a hot New York slice and a coke, for $5 at midnight.

Hi Chitown B! I'm working on a freelance article to pitch to Chicago magazine about Bacci's closing and Wrigleyville's changing landscape. If you'd be willing to chat, I'd love to talk with you more about your post and what you'll miss about Bacci. It seems like this all happened pretty suddenly and wasn't really publicized, so I'm trying to get the full story. Thanks!

NO.
My posts are pretty straight forward. Not sure why do you need to spend time on conspiracy theories.
I posted on August 2nd ahead of time:

I hear someone is planning to open pelmeni place at 2668 N. Clark. They bought remains of French bakery that used to be there. Is that a good location? The concept seems easy to understand. Or not?
A good chance for know everything LTHers to tell the future"
OK, I see I made mistake with the street #, but other than that it was accurate.
I know who is doing it and I have their printed menu, but their website is not ready.
Lets see what happens. Seems like they are trying to mimic Paul's Pelmeni in Madison, but higher prices here.

And now they're open again so I guess it wasn't the end. I guess they're just going to stick with their strategy of randomly closing on occasion.

Well, Bow Truss has proven to have excellent business instincts over the last couple years, so who are we to question the wisdom of this plan?
Big & Little’s, the fast-casual mini-chain with three Chicago locations, has diversified by opening a new restaurant focusing on New York-style pizza and poke. The new spot opened on Wednesday at the former Torta Haus/Fogo 2 Go space, 926 W. Diversey Parkway. The pizza menu will rotate, but for now they’ll only serve pepperoni and sausage slices. The restaurant is called Pizza & Poke by Big & Little’s.
