Every year for Thanksgiving I obtain steamed whole chestnuts from Williams-Sonoma (for use in the dressing/stuffing).

This year, it looks like WS will not have them until after Thanksgiving.

The quality of these things has been consistently high over the past 18 years or so, so that's always been my source.

I'm probably going to check out Whole Foods (when in doubt, go to the local grocery store) looking for alternatives. However, does anybody have any other ideas for top quality chestnuts?

Most Asian groceries carry pre-packaged steamed chestnuts. For stuffing use, these are probably just what you're looking for.

Williams-Sonoma has lots of chestnuts available right now -- same product as before. At least at the Naperville store.

    Hi,

I have found these at Costco just before Thanksgiving.

They go fast and are not usually available into December.

I bought them from Hillside Orchard, who are at the Green City Market and the Andersonville farmers market. I'd call ahead to see if they still have them.
