    Hi all,

My wife and I recently went alcohol free, and I am looking for things to do after our early reservation at Giant on a Saturday (5:15). I'd expect I'd be there until 7 or so. My wife and I have already done the chocolate bar at the Peninsula and the (now shuttered) dessert tasting at Tru.

Are there any things else like this that I might pick for her birthday? I want it to feel special and not that we are 'penalized' because we aren't drinking (normally a trip to The Violet Hour would be a MUST after dinner for a birthday).

She's a sweet fiend so I was thinking along the lines of dessert, but a tea tasting/etc, might work as well. Something that is really delicious or elegant would be great.

    Please help me LTHForum!

Mindy's Hot Chocolate, accepts reservations, note $15 pp minimum for "dessert only" tables.
Elske does a la carte, so might be an option for post-dinner. Also, they offer non-alcoholic beverage pairings for their dinner tasting menus, so might be worth contacting them to see what they might be able to arrange for you.
The sundae at Maple & Ash could be fun, not sure if they serve it downstairs in the bar if an upstairs reservation is unavailable.
    Happy Birthday!

Just down the street from Giant is Katherine Anne, where the truffles and hot chocolate are really outstanding and the atmosphere is cute-ish. Since your dinner is early you'll make it there before the 9pm close.

If the setting matters perhaps a quick uber with a reservation and an explanation for a dessert tasting, including cheese, at Nico.

Their dessert program is not a throw-away.

Lula is more casual but also offers an outstanding dessert program with some sophisticated/complex flavors, albeit accessible.

Oh, what about Hammel's new place inside the MCA, Marisol?

The chocolate mousse at Cochon Volant is also lovely and I would anticipate they have a cheese program as well.

Less Elegant, 1st Jeni's Splendid on Southport then stroll over to Julius Meinl a smidge north.

We ate dinner there last week, and thought their dessert offerings were the best part. Also, the non-alcoholic beverages (ordered a la carte) were remarkably inexpensive - $5 for a lovely citrus-y custom-made mocktail, and $3 for a housemade ginger beer.
