Hi- My Mother gave me a set of SS revereware probably 25 years ago for Christmas. I still use the 1.5 quart and 2 quart saucepots, but I pitched the frying pans years ago. Until a few weeks ago I was still using a 5 quart SS stockpot that came with the set. It had an aluminum core in the bottom. I used it all the time to boil water for pasta and corn. The thing that was covering the core on the bottom of the pan came loose, and the pan was a fire hazard. I have been using my 5 quart nonstick Scanpan instead. I can't put it on high though, and it takes me twice as long to get the water to boil for pasta.
I need a new pan, and I am considering a 6 quart SS Cuisinart cook's classic stock pot that ATK likes. It is $32 at Amazon. Macy's has a sale today only on a 5.5 quart Cuisinart multipot which has a glass lid. I would prefer a metal lid, which the 6 quart pan has. The pan at Macy's is normally $39.95, and it is on sale for today only for 40% off, with an additional 20 % off, which brings the cost down to $19.20. Macy's also has a Cuisinart cook's classic black onyx rose gold 5.5 quart pot which is a Macy's exclusive. This pan is also $19.20 today only. The SS pot is 18/4 stainless steel, whereas the black onyx pot is 18/0 SS. Is the black onyx pan more likely to rust? I did have a link to the pot, but I lost it when my Firefox shut down Thanks, Nancy
