is an edgy discussion of Exact Blade, in Northbrook.
Three reasons why Exact Blade is a go-to place for North-siders and North Shore suburbanites:
• Walk-in service, with no wait on my Saturday early-morning visit.
• Excellent job of sharpening, cleaning and polishing of two kitchen knives.
• What seems to be a reasonable cost: $16, total, for a cleaver and a chef’s knife with an 8” blade.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable visit with Dan, the owner, as he provided a running commentary on the business and why he goes the extra mile to get the best results. It was a recent visit, so I cannot attest to how long the knives will stay sharp, but they are as good – or better – than new, for now.
