Canned Meats

Dave's is a locally-owned grocery store in the small central Illinois town of Fairbury. They are widely respected for their meat. According to this article in the Pontiac Daily Leader, they are going to start producing their own canned meat -- beef, pork, and chicken. Canned meat (especially home-canned or from meat lockers) can be delicious, and is a quick start for beef and noodles or chicken and noodles.

It would be worth a field trip that includes a visit to Kilgus Farmstead, and lunch at the bakery/restaurant Lost in Time. Slagel Family Farm is also in the area.
