I know they are in a soft opening, but I went to Square Biscuits over the weekend and liked it. The space is a little crowded (seems like there is one too many tables on the floor) and you can see the bones from Smokin' Woody's.
I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. It was a little different than I expected; it looked a little like medallions of steak. It was sliced on top of a sliced biscuit and topped off with eggs and a gravy. It looked different than I expected, but very tasty. Potatoes were 'meh.' The better half ordered a skillet and that was good too. Oatmeal was also ordered and that was good. The key with the oatmeal and toast was the homemade rhubarb jam. (I think all the jams are homemade). Not to say I have a lot of experience with rhubarb or rhubarb jam, but it was good and noteworthy. I did not eat a plain biscuit, but some pieces with no gravy were good. It was almost like pie crust.
Service was weird, but it was a soft opening. The whole bill on the phone thing seems cool (I think we paid with credit card on the waitresses personal phone with some app), but my old crotchety self, likes paper checks
