We are looking for a place for my daughter's 16th birthday. She will have around 10 guests. Casual, unique and inexpensive are our goals. Anywhere in the city or near north/northwest burbs is ideal as her friends live all over Chicagoland. Pizza is easy as teens' food preferences are picky. Just wondered if there is anything else out there or if you have a favorite pizza spot that can take a crowd on a Saturday or Sunday night. Any recommendation is most appreciated.

Moretti's has several locations. I just visited the Rosemont location with friends.

Based on my one experience there [backed up by several Yelp observations], the staff at the MG Moretti's is still in the rough phase of training. Not saying to avoid the place entirely, but service issues could make for a less-fun birthday party.

    Hi,

When my nieces were youngsters, I took a carload of kids to Seven Treasures for their noodle soups. It is likely the fussy ones will not fuss over chicken noodle soup or just noodles in chicken broth. Adventurists of various levels might opt for BBQ pork, shrimp dumplings, shrimp wontons all the way to stuff they never imagined anyone ate: tendon. For the non-soup eaters, there are all those rice plates with various meats.

If you stick to the menu favored by the Chinese, you will have an interesting and inexpensive dinner for around $10 per head, less tax and gratuity. Their tables seat ten people, because you often see large groups.

Who knows maybe Mario's has opened, so a stop for Italian ice might be in order. They open May 1st officially, though sometimes it is a day or so earlier after they finished their seasonal prep.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

PS: Stopped by Mario's Saturday night, they are not yet open. Sign says May 1st, though it may be open the night before.
