Club Lago has no river view but is a very short walk to the Chicago Ave. bridge - just about as classic Chicago Italian as you're going to get, with chops and a strip as well.
http://www.clublago.com/eveningdinner-menu/Erie Cafe, which does not get a lot of recent play here (and which I stumbled onto through Pokemon Go, long story) has steaks, chicken vesuvio, homemade ravioli, and is right on the river just south of that bridge.
http://www.eriecafe.com/index.php#1Chicago Cut, which is reported to have some management challenges at the moment and where I have not been in a few years, has the river view and the quality steaks but Italian quotient is modest - burrata and sides, though the chicken parmigiana gets good reviews.
