We NCS'd for the first time today. Our "dine" in order:

Chicken Egg Rolls - Hey. I was hangry. Don't judge. Mediocre, but not BAD. In these times we live in, good egg rolls are hard to find. Bad is pretty much the norm. These were not BAD.

Potstickers - pretty much the same. A tad under mediocre but definitely not bottom of the barrel.

Dry Chili Fish - Yeah Buddy. Little on the salty side, but yeah, buddy.

Dry Chili Chicken Wings - tried one. Took the rest home. Yeah, buddy. We overordered (imagine that!) and by the time these came out, all hope was lost, but it was the exact same dry chili seasoning as the fish. Little salty, but hell yeah.

Orange Chicken - Seebee Jr's standard. Kind of like a security blanket, but we pluck the gloppy fried chicken parts, and put them into our faces as well. It was edible. On a scale of 1 to 10, the glop factor was about a 5 - standard issue.

NCS is a decent itch scratcher for ma-la in the hood.

Only had mapo tofu once before, and since I made it, blamed the mediocre outcome on the chef. Not sure what it is, but didn’t care for this version either. Since I am usually in sync with Ronnie’s palate, it may just not be for me.

Never had their vegetable fried rice and they did not skimp on the veggies.

Their multiple menus are not in sync with one another. Was shocked to see Ron’s mention of mapo tofu, because I never saw it before. That’s because I have only used their paper menu or Beyond Menu and it isn’t on either. I called her and requested it.

Pulled out an oak aged sour saison from Transient in Bridgman. Vacillate, batch #6. First Transient ale I didn’t love. It was good, but not phenomenal as the others have been

Tried to go for lunch today. Place was empty but was told minimum 40 minute wait for Kung pao chx or crispy fish filet. Apparently their delivery or carry out orders make up the bulk of their business.

I won’t make this mistake again.

Not sure why they're so slow this week... I placed a GrubHub order for pick-up last night hoping to pick up on way home from errand in Lincoln Park. Ordered at 8:50 and quoted 9:35 for pick-up time (45 min!) and then when I got there at that time I had to wait another 30 min for the order to be ready (10:05). Food was as good as always, but no idea why it was so slow. Only saw like 2 other orders go out in all that time, unless delivery drivers also use a back door?

This is our go-to Chinese delivery. The past couple times we ordered through their website (with BeyondMenu), called the restaurant when the estimated delivery time had passed, and they sounded rushed and said it'd be 10 minutes. In both cases I think they missed or forgot our order and then quickly found, made, and delivered it (we live close). Based on those two experiences I'd recommend just calling for delivery in the first place and not using BeyondMenu. The food was good as always and I still highly recommend it for best delivery I've found in the area.

My regular order is the pot stickers and spicy red curry chicken (listed under Chef's Top Recommendation). I definitely recommend the curry. It's the best of the entrees I've tried.

Food was a great tonight (as it has been lately) but the delivery-time frustrations are beginning to mount for me. GrubHub's pre-order estimate was 35-40 minutes, however as soon as we placed the order, that more than doubled to 80-90 minutes. In the end, our food arrived even later than that -- 1 hour and 40 minutes after we placed the order. If I'd known it was going to take that long, I simply would have ordered from another restaurant. I think it'll be a while before I make this choice again.

I really thought I had life on this crazy blue orb all figured out when I placed a delivery order from the 6 bus in Hyde Park with the expectation that it'd show up a touch after I got home to Logan Square but folks New China Station outfoxed me yet again! At some point something in my brain broke and now it's like, hour-45 delivery time for a place I live six minutes from, fine, whatever, I'm enjoying this the same way you might appreciate getting to watch Jordan play even as he's destroying your team. It's fine! I'm fine!! Step on me, New China Station!!!

Was in the mood for Szechuan and actually had some free time tonight.

Was looking forward to chilling out and waiting for my food but now they won’t even take my order! That’s right, Tuesday night with one dude eating fried rice and the phone not ringing now equals “too busy time now, not taking order”

I even said I’d be fine waiting but she stood her ground.

Done.

We had a really good take out order last week. We found two new to us items that we really liked. Spicy string beans with black bean sauce is an appetiser and was excellent. Eggplant tofu with spicy garlic sauce, in the entrees, was another winner that will be in the rotation when we order here.

This afternoon I decided to give love another chance and ordered New China Station delivery before I left work with the expectation that it would still be in delivery limbo when I got home an hour later. Much to my surprise and delight, the delivery guy arrived within 20 minutes while I was still in transit and I had to tell him to just leave my food on the sidewalk like the rat I am.

This was kind of a "too fat for Panda Express, too young to die" hangover meal so I can't really give a status update on the board's Sichuan favorites, but I will say the Hunan beef and sesame chicken were still piping hot and exactly what I was craving and the potstickers & accompanying chili oil were as crispy/chewy/porky/greasy/lit as ever.

New China Station...step on me, mom!!!!!

Was there for lunch today. A bit bittersweet for me but the dry chile fish filet, lamb w/cumin, potstickers and gratis chix fried rice (when you order over $30) were all as good as ever.
