as everybody should know by now, antiobiotics in our meat supply are dangerous for humans as it makes us resistant to antibiotics when we need them to fight off an infection. consumer reports just rated all the major burger chains and only 2 use meat without antibiotics. if you eat regularly at places like burger king or mcdonalds this could be a problem for you....

More discussion of McDonald's plan to transition to antibiotic-free beef is in this August 2017 Chicago Tribune article.

It is not my intention to pop anybody's cuisine bubble, but upon buying the box of 16 White Castle Hamburgers | Cheeseburgers [I had a $1 off coupon from the Sunday- primarily Spanish-language "Hoy" insert.], I espied a sentence near the ingredient list reading "Partially made from genetic engineering" :!:
Is this going to upset the {apple :?:} cart for the public's enjoyment of White Castle hamburgers?

LOL! As a fan of White Castle, I can confidently say that it's not a particularly discerning crowd. I do wonder if that applies strictly to the frozen versions sold in stores, though.

It probably means there are corn or soy products in there somewhere, as the majority of the corn and soy in this country are currently GMO (and I'm fine with that).

It may also reference the beef itself, because they were fed GMO corn at the feedlot before slaughter.

The Vermont law that requires this GMO labeling specifically excludes the need to label products from animals that were fed GMOs in their feed as long as the animals themselves were not the result of genetic engineering. I suspect this particular box of sliders was produced in a plant that distributes to Vermont and it was just easier to put the label on all the boxes instead of just trying to put it on those that were destined for sale in that one state. Federal GMO labeling requirements are supposed to go in to effect in 2020 so you'll probably start seeing a lot more of these labels in the near future.

LOL redux. They're best eaten at some point after midnight when you've been imbibing long enough that you don't actually know what time it is. The perfect combination of animal protein and grease to get everything settled in your tummy.
