As I'd reported in Openings and Closings, Salsa Street, which also is in Palatine and Sleepy Hollow, has opened at Randhurst Village where Truco Tacos had previously been.

They've got a wide variety of tacos (fried and grilled fish, shrimp, chicken and pork carnitas, tinga, al pastor, barbacoa, etc). We tried a half dozen different ones last night -- Taco Tuesday has their two chicken varieties, al pastor and ground beef at $2, steak at $2.50; I opted for the 3-taco platter for $10.99 which includes cilantro rice and black beans, not noticing that they add a $2 upcharge for including any of their more premium tacos (a ripoff, given that there's only a $.50 difference between most of them).

The table salsa is a tangy green, quite tasty. Chips light and crisp.
Sangria was too sweet with a strong flavor of grenadine.

The shrimp and the pastor both include a pineapple pico de gallo, which isn't too sweet but could use more heat.
The queso fresco was probably the best one I had, it has avocado and a chipotle sauce with a decent amount of spice.
Barbacoa was bland -- it's prettily served with a squiggle of a pinkish sauce, but it needs more acid and heat, and even salt.

It's not going to replace my neighborhood favorites of Mi Ristaurante (Wolf & Kensington) or Monica's (set back from Milwaukee just south of Palatine), but for a quick, relatively inexpensive meal before or after a movie, it'll do fine.
