Paid another visit to New England Seafood Company, this time with a real camera. I needed to get my fish and chips fix taken care of.
Jan and I both started with the N.E. Clam Chowder, which is a home run for me. Lots of clams and big chunks of potato.
I had the fish and chips, which is done so well here. Two big pieces of fish with a coating that's crunchy but not very thick compared to the fish, along with crunchy fries that have a bit of seasoning to them. Fabulous.

Jan had the crab cakes for the first time. The flavor was excellent, but I didn't notice any large chunks of crab still remaining in the cakes. I also like to have a bit of crunch with my crab cakes, which is why I make mine with panko bread crumbs at home, but these didn't have any crunch to them. So while the texture wasn't the best, the flavor was still excellent. Jan liked them all-around. The mountain of rice that came with it had a great flavor, but was somewhat reminiscent of Rice-a-Roni (which it isn't, as I didn't see any little vermacelli in it). The sauce was quite good, a bit mustardy with just a slight touch of heat. Overall, a good dish for me and an excellent dish for Jan.
