we're planning a dinner for 50 with many mediterranean components, most of which we'll make ourselves, but one item we might outsource is an excellent grilled/ roasted chicken for pick up or delivery to bucktown. (huge fans of dearly departed The Art of Chicken and wondering if there is some kind of medi equivalent anywhere?)

We had Avli cater a large gathering several years ago and they did a fabulous job. My guess is its probably too far from Bucktown, however, unless you pick it up yourself.

Forgot they have a place on Wrightwood in addition to the Winnetka location. That might be in range, but the only chicken I see on that menu is kabobs.

I'd recommend Barba Yianni. They have excellent renditions of both the classic chicken riganati and a charcoal broiled kota elliniki (get it chopped up). They run a sizable catering / event operation and can travel.

Athenian Room at the corner of Halsted and Webster would be my suggestion.

re-upping this as we have to make a decision soon. we've researched the options here and have a plan but just double checking if any other ideas are swirling around the forum!

So I know it's not Mediterranean, but would Dcandela be an option?

They make a fine roasted chicken.

we will try that and report back! if anyone else has heartfelt recs for just any roasted or charbroiled or grilled chicken we'd take those too. (again lament Art of Chicken absence! they say they're coming back soon but they weren't able to accept this order.)

Second this, though I don't know whether they deliver to Bucktown.

Grilled poultry haven the Art of Chicken is closer to coming back to 2041 N. Western Avenue after a 2017 fire shuttered the restaurant for nearly two years.

+1 on D'Candela if its being Peruvian and its location are not bars. Also, we used Psistaria for picked-up catering and it was excellent. I don't know what they might charge for delivery, but if you don't mind picking up, it's a straight shoot out the Kennedy to the Edens Touhy exit and then you're there.
